GeoMechanics International Inc. is the recognized leader in consulting, training and software in the field of reservoir geomechanics in the oil and gas industry. We have delivered value to more than 90 clients in over 1000 engagements in 35 oil provinces worldwide. Our methods are based on 20 years of R&D and 10 years of practical application to oilfield problems. Our specialists have over 300 years of combined experience. We look at the entire field development for opportunity to reduce exploration risk, to save Non Productive Time (NPT) and to increase production and recoverable reserves. Our clients routinely receive returns in value 20-30 times the price of our services. Geomechanics is our only business, and we are focused on providing value to our clients through our knowledge, proprietary technology and advice.

In April 2008, GMI was acquired by Baker Hughes Incorporated (BHI) and is operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of the newly established Reservoir Technology and Consulting Group within BHI. GMI, while retaining its unique position in the way that we service our customer base, will have the opportunity to grow and expand our service and software offerings through the association with the other BHI divisions.

We have proven solutions to help you:

  • Reduce drilling costs due to wellbore instability and lost circulation events
  • Lower risk of well control problems through seismic and log-based pore pressure prediction
  • Minimize the risk of production deferment or loss through sand production prediction and casing shear analysis
  • Optimize production through fracture permeability analysis, fracture stimulation and reservoir compaction analysis
  • Improve the characterization of hydrocarbon and water migration pathways and accurately determine reserves estimates through fault seal analysis

GeoMechanics International's key strengths are in its rigorous approach, its track record of success, its people, and its openness to share technology and knowledge with the client. The approach is one that constrains the magnitudes of each principal stress in a fashion that forces consistency with the laws of rock physics, of the earth's crust, and with historical field experience. By imposing this type of rigor, we can derive geomechanical models with the accuracy needed to make predictions that are robust enough to base well designs and reservoir depletion plans on those predictions with confidence.

Every GMI consultant is a globally recognized expert in the field of geomechanics.
