Software Developer - Houston

Code development of interactive, multi-thread, graphics software applications in Java utilizing agile software methods.  Evaluate and analyze user requirements for new and existing products.  Refactor and maintain existing software. Knowledge of MATLAB® and Python a plus.  Domain experience in the Oil and Gas industry a plus. Computer Science degree and 5 to 6 years experience required.
 
Essential Functions: 

  • Write/debug/maintain code for software applications
  • Skills and experience in performance improvement of software that processes large data sets and that displays rich graphics
  • Evaluate and analyze user requirements
  • Enhance existing product architecture and features
  • Create software architecture documents
  • Demonstrated ability to meet scheduled deadlines and finish projects in a production-oriented environment.
  • Capable of close collaboration with software engineering and scientific staff

Senior Geomechanics Specialist

GMI has an immediate opening for a Senior Geomechanics Specialist in its Houston office.

Successful candidates will have achieved a PhD in geology or geophysics, and 5+ years experience in geomechanics/rock mechanics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessities.

The primary responsibility for successful candidates is to utilize their knowledge of geomechanics to provide consulting services on geomechanical project work including, at a minimum, stress constraint, wellbore stability analysis, fracture permeability, fault seal analysis, sand production prediction, and pore pressure prediction.

Other related activities include:

  • Leading and delivering GMI projects
  • Reviewing and collating project data and information
  • Supporting GMI's sales and marketing efforts

In addition, consultants are expected to:

  • Prepare presentations, technical documents and other items of project delivery
  • Help with preparation and production of technical training materials
  • Support research and technology developments

Geomechanics Associate

GMI has immediate openings for Geomechanics Associates in its Houston and Aberdeen offices.

The successful candidate will have achieved a PhD in geology, geophysics, or will have done PhD thesis work related to shock-induced rock fractures.

The primary responsibility for the successful candidate is to utilize their knowledge of geomechanics to provide consulting services on geomechanical project work including, at a minimum, stress constraint, wellbore stability analysis, fracture permeability, fault seal analysis, sand production prediction, and pore pressure prediction.

Other related activities include:

  • Liaising with GMI project managers and other team members as part of the team delivering projects
  • Reviewing and collating project data and information
  • Reviewing drilling reports and providing drilling summaries
  • Reviewing and summarizing pore pressure, minimum stress, vertical stress, rock property and other data

In addition, consultants are expected to:

  • Prepare presentations, technical documents and other items of project delivery

GMI has immediate openings for Geomechanics Consultants in all of its regional offices.

Successful candidates will have achieved a PhD in geology or geophysics. Applicants with MS degrees and 5+ years experience in geomechanics/rock mechanics will also be considered. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessities and proficiency in a second language would be considered a strong advantage.

The primary responsibility for successful candidates is to utilize their knowledge of geomechanics to provide consulting services on geomechanical project work including, at a minimum, stress constraint, wellbore stability analysis, fracture permeability, fault seal analysis, sand production prediction, and pore pressure prediction.

Perth, Australia
Geomechanics Associate

The successful applicant is required to have a BSc or MSc Degree in Geology, Geophysics or Petroleum Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry. Knowledge of Rock Mechanics is desirable. Experience in any of following areas in the Asia Pacific region, including the North West Shelf, PNG, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia is a strong advantage:

  • Well Site Logging and Real-Time Operations
  • Knowledge of Image and Sonic data processing.
  • Pore Pressure Prediction and Well Planning
  • Wireline and LWD Log Analysis
  • Wireline and LWD/MWD Data Quality Control
  • Reservoir Production Analysis
  • Customer Service Experience
