Our Reservoir Pore Pressure Prediction short course is designed for those involved in well planning, drilling engineering, reservoir engineering, and petrophysics. In a one or two day course, participants are introduced to the critical role pore pressure prediction plays in reservoir exploitation. It covers basic principles of pore pressure systems such as overpressure, compaction, and the thermal and fluid effects on pore pressure.

Attendees learn a variety of pore pressure calculation methodologies, and gain expertise in handling the data used in making pore pressure predictions. Presentation of the distribution of overpressure worldwide leads to interesting class discussion. Course topics include:

  • Pore Pressure and Pore Pressure Prediction-Basic Principles
  • Response of Sediment Physical Properties to Changes in Stress and Pressure
  • Overpressure Generating Mechanisms
  • Pore Pressure Calculation Methods
  • Data for Pore Pressure Prediction
  • Pore Pressure Measurements
  • Worldwide Distribution of Overpressures
